CASTILLO DE CANENA OLIVE JUICE: ONLY THE BEST EQUIPMENT CAN GRANT THE BEST OLIVE OIL.

Castillo de Canena Olive Juice is one of the most awarded company producing Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the world, boasting a wide palmarés of national and international awards.

The company is named after the family castle rising on the hill of Canena in the province of Jaén. The castle, located on the territory of Gadalquivir Valley, was declared National Monument in 1931 and was subsequently restored by VañóFamily. The tradition in the olive oil field started in 1780 but it was in 2003 that the family decided to take the big plunge and market its extra virgin olive oil of quality by the name of Castillo the Canena. Rosa Vañó, the Sales Manager, leaves her job in Coke Company to focus on the family business, becoming in few years one of the most admired businesswomen in the sector and among the 100 more powerful women in Spain. The same story for his brother, Francisco Vañó, who left his job at Banco Santander in order to become General Manager of the company.

The company is a family business and it is proud to be so. Seeking every day the best of its essence and processing it through the research and creativity strengthens its desire to grow. The confidence in its history and highly qualified staff ensures that they continue to propose innovations to the market but looking at the past.

An example is the first AOVE Biodinámicoof high range in the world, the Castillo CanenaPicual Biodinámico, produced entirely by a biological process based on the harmonization of the different forces of nature like seasons, lunar cycles, constellations position etc…the result is a colored green juice with high content of polyphenols and flavouring of nature (herbs, vegetables and fruits).

Another product is the Primer Día de Cosecha, a limited edition of olive oil obtained in the first day of harvest in Picual and Arbequina varieties with an exclusive packaging: the bottles are signed every year by important persons in art, science, sport etc....(among them Roberto Verino, Fernando Alonso, Ainhoa Arteta, Alejandro Sanz, Pau Gasol).

Excellence is a habit. Castello de Canena controls in the same plant the whole process, from the selection and harvest to the bottling and the product marketing in order to assure a complete traceability.

As Francisco Vañó explains us: “ Our first strong point is the olive trees, we only select the soils with fruit trees of high quality and we harvest with mechanical process at the optimum time of harvesting. All stages follow high quality parameters: transport, crushing, kneading, extraction, filtration, conservation and bottling. For example, bottling is made on request by injecting hydrogen in the bottles to preserve the organoleptic caracteristics of our olive oils. Certainly the technical equipment we use is also very important and Pieralisi has been and will be a great support for us since we are keeping installing the last technological innovations of the group.

In our plant we actually use two Pieralisi continuous plant of extractioncomposed by: double grid crusher with speed variation, two Molinova kneading modules composed of three modules with Panorama glass and individual temperature control, two SPI 111 centrifugal extractor and two Valente vertical separators.

Talking of Pieralisi and Castillo de Canena means talking of tradition, passion and innovation. This union between Pieralisi and Castillo de Canena has led us to be one of the most awardedolive oil in the world: the last award is for the Biodinámico Picual recognized as best olive oil in the world in the International Monocultivar Olive Oil Bio 2015.”

Pieralisi is proud of this case history since it can be said that the olive oils produced with all Pieralisi equipments are awarded worldwide and with the highest honour.

Congratulation to Castillo de Canena for the results obtained up to now and for those that will arrive.
